The drive from Crested Butte to Paonia passes West Beckwith Mountain, the best spot in the state to view foliage. Self-described as “A sunny place for shady people”, the handcrafted selection of drafts on tap, great food, stacked live music lineup and sunny patio attract locals and visitors alike, making it a great place to mingle.
Talk of the Town is another local gem to not miss. This local’s favorite offers fair prices and lots of entertainment, like a jukebox, giant Jenga, and pool tables. Plus, there’s usually a DJ spinning fun dance music that gets the whole house on their feet. If you want to get a little loud and move, this is the place.
For a little more laid relaxed venue with real local historic atmosphere, head to the Wooden Nickel Saloon. The Wooden Nickel is Crested Butte’s oldest saloon, having been a local feature since 1929. This venerable old saloon features a great beer and wine list, and don’t let the atmosphere fool you, the food menu here is serious business, and something you owe it to yourself to check out when you stop by.
